Data collection

Collection notes
(circumstances, sources, methods, funding, coverage…):
These data were collected by Catalina Perez in 2007, as part of her research for an undergraduate thesis in anthropology, with the supervision of Juan A. Echeverri, professor of the Amazonia Campus of Universidad Nacional de Colombia. This dataset is one of several genealogical datasets we have collected in the Colombo-Peruvian Upper Amazon region (30 in Peru, 18 in Colombia). We are now integrating all datasets in a single database, assigning to each settlement a range of codes to identify individuals. Arara codes range from 100000 to 109999. In 2013, Juan A. Echeverri incorporated into the Arara census new data from censuses of neighboring Tikuna settlements, to enlarge and complete the genealogical relationships. Individuals with codes over 110000 were appended from other censuses: Nazareth (110000-110999), Macedonia (130000-139999), Ronda (140000-149999) and Santa Sofia (150000-169999). Of the 1695 individuals in the Arara dataset, 261 (15%) are also in another (or others) datasets: 167 individuals are shared with Santa Sofia, 101 with Nazareth, 73 with Macedonia, 37 with Kilometro Once, 16 with Ronda and 3 with Santa Rosa (2 individuals are shared with other 5 datasets, 13 individuals with 4 datasets, 17 individuals with 3 datasets, 55 individuals with 2 datasets, and 175 individuals with another of the datasets compared).
