Description

Description: The population of Karluk, one of seven native villages on the Kodiak Island group to the south of the Alaskan mainland, is in the main derived from the Konyag Eskimo, inhabitants of the Island group and adjacent mainland in prehistoric and historic times.
This dataset is based on three genealogical charts (“sections”) containing 410 individuals in all. First names are identification numbers followed by an indication of gender; second names contain codes indicating the places of origin of the individual concerned and his/her ascendants (a key to the codes is to be found at the end of the "kodiak dataset information" attachment).
158 individuals retain numbers assigned by the author (numbers 301 to 817), whereas 252 individuals are indicated as “unlabelled” by the coder (numbers 1 to 254).
